Dave Walsh

Obituary of Dave Walsh

It is with heavy hearts that the family of John David “Dave” Walsh of Smiths Creek announce his passing at his home on September 18, 2025, at the age of 77.

Born in Sussex on August 18, 1948, he was the son of the late John Philip and Alicia Marie (Howe) Walsh. He was also the devoted husband of the late Mary Taylor, who passed away in 2013.

Dave was a true jack-of-all-trades — working in the woods, welding, carpentry, driving trucks for Purina, and especially loved his time as an escort. If it paid well and didn’t require too much paperwork, Dave probably tried it. Known for being frugal — the “hide it under the mattress” type — Dave had a sharp wit and loved to tell stories. He never hesitated to give advice (whether you asked for it or not), and he had a way of making everyone feel like family.

Kind-hearted and always willing to help, Dave was the one people called when something needed fixing or when they just needed someone to listen. His humor, generosity, and larger-than-life personality will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him.

Dave will be forever remembered by his children: Matthew Walsh (Cathy) of Shenstone, Troy Taylor (Amy) of Midland, Ryan (Krista Snider) of Sussex Corner, and Cassie Walsh of Smiths Creek; his brothers: Mike Walsh (Barb) of Pleasant Ridge, and Phil Walsh of Pleasant Ridge; his grandchildren: Brittany, Ben, Brett, Cole, Emma, Zachery, Destiny (Alex), Taylor (Connor), EJ, Noah, Maycee, and Jack; and his great-grandchildren: Caiden, Elijah, and Mara. He will also be missed by several nieces, nephews, and the many “adopted” children who thought of him as family.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176). At Dave’s request, all services will be held privately. Donations in Dave’s memory may be made to the SPCA. Private condolences and donations may be made at www.WallaceFuneralHome.com.
