Obituary of Frank Crawford
It is with great sadness the family of Frank Douglas Crawford Jr. announce his passing on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Sussex Health Centre. Born in Sussex, NB on February 22, 1952, Frank was the son of Frank James Crawford Sr. and Sylvia Augusta (McLean) Crawford.
Frank was well known for his musical ability being able to play many different instruments including – guitar, bass, Irish whistles, and the bagpipes. He was always ready to play a tune. Frank played in several local bands over the years including The Morning Light, The Country Travelers, The Crawford Family Band and lastly The Crawford Brothers.
Frank excelled in his cooking abilities, having owned and operated several restaurants and worked in many other food establishments. Frank’s last and “best ever” job was cooking in Churchill Falls, Labrador for Nalcor Energy. He thoroughly enjoyed meeting new friends and colleagues. He was forever talking about his time in Labrador, and it was there that failing health forced him to retire.
Frank’s Love for his family was unmeasurable. He was extremely proud of each and everyone of them and never tired of listening to their stories or what they were doing. Frank was devoted to his wife Marilyn, she was his “rock”.
After a period of declining health his greatest wishes were to see all of his grandchildren graduate, as of late his wish was to be able to attend his grandsons wedding which he also did, and by the grace of God he was able to be there and stay the whole day and celebrated with them. The dialysis staff can attest to his excitement as it was the daily topic of discussion when he was feeling up to it and they heard the details many times.
Frank is survived by his wife Marilyn (Parlee) having reached 54 years of married life. His son Clifford (Stephanie) of Whisler, BC; His daughter Tammy (Bob) Buell of Newline, NB; Three grandson Ethan (Emily) Buell of Halifax, Eli and Milo Buell of Newline, NB; His brothers Winston Crawford and Richard (Marion) Crawford of Belleisle Creek, NB; Brothers-in-law Gary of Roachville, Dale (Heather) of Rockville, Darren (Cathy) of Cedar Camp, Stephen of Brantford, ON; sisters-in-law Hellea Crawford of Sussex, Sandra (Matthew) Dickinson of Lower Brighton, Ethel (Gino) Juteau of Jeffries Corner.
