Obituary of Marc Michaud

Marc Christopher Michaud – Celebration of Life

Marc Christopher Michaud, beloved son of Steve and Marilyn Michaud, cherished brother to Scott (Jenny) and Joel (Brianne), and adored “Uncle Marc” to Mélanie, Maria, and Sylvia, passed away in Frog Spring, Alvord Desert, Harney County, Oregon, on September 22, 2025. He was returning from an epic motorcycle journey that took him along the Pacific Coast—from Edmonton through Vancouver, visiting friends along the way, continuing through California’s redwood forests, and heading back toward Edmonton.

Born on January 8, 1992, Marc spent his early years shaping the fun-loving nature that defined him. In his early twenties, he searched for his calling, but ultimately found his happy place in Jasper, Alberta, where he worked various jobs in the Park. Jasper gave Marc not only work but also the chance to build lasting friendships and nurture his joyful and caring spirit. Its proximity to Grande Prairie allowed him to spend special time with Joel, Brianne, and his nieces—moments that became treasured memories.

In Jasper, Marc trained as a conductor with CN and later as an engineer. However, the schedule, or lack thereof, isolated him from his social circle of friends, so he jumped ship.  He found a better fit at Maligne Lake as a tour guide and boat captain, where his kindness and adventurous spirit shone. A snowboarding accident at Marmot Basin left him with a torn ACL, placing him on boat maintenance duties. Once healed, he returned to the sports he loved—mountain biking, hockey, and snowboarding.

Marc’s bond with his younger brother Scott was especially deep. He admired Scott’s music and had recently shared cherished time with him at Parlee Beach. He also took the opportunity to visit dear friends in Sussex before returning to Edmonton, where he was embraced by his other “Alberta family,” the Kopeckys.  Marc also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends that held a special place in his heart.

In recent years, Marc joined CLAC and worked for Ledcor as an Ironworker apprentice. He was preparing to begin his next block of training this October, another step towards his goal of earning his Red Seal designation. For Marc, this represented not only professional achievement but also the chance to pursue new adventures and build friendships across the country. His adventurous heart never rested.

Marc’s life was guided by a love for new challenges, new places, and most of all, the people he cared for. He carried his family and friends close to his heart, and they, in turn, kept him grounded. As we grieve, let us honor Marc’s love for life and adventure by keeping our hearts and minds open—to new experiences, new friendships, and the same boundless spirit that defined him.

The family will receive guests for visitation at Wallace Funeral Home 34 Sunnyside Drive Sussex, NB (506)-433-1176 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm on Friday, October 10, 2025.  A celebration of life will be held at St-Francis Xavier Church in Sussex, NB at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 11, 2025.
