Born September 17, 1905 at Northrup Settlement, Kings County, NB, she was the sixth child born to John and Elvira (Smith) Darling. She went to school at Pleasant Ridge School. Married Arthur Andrew Boyd, July 9, 1924, at her parent's home at Pleasant Ridge. They moved to the Boston area in Massachusetts in 1925, believing their quality of live and livelihood would be better there in the USA than in the hard times of Maritime Canada.
