Obituary of Alyce Horton
Alyce Horton was born in Bridgedale, on March 5, 1911, she was the
daughter of the late Joseph B. Steeves and Bessie (Gunning) Steeves and was the wife of the late George Horton.
Alyce spent her earlier years in Moncton where she attended Aberdeen High School and Moncton Success Business College. She became employed with T. Eaton Company where she remained for several years. It was there where she met and later married her husband George and in 1941 moved to Sussex.
She was a member of St. John's United Church, Sussex Corner, the PC Women's Association, Business and Professional Womans Association, as well as she sponsors the first Beta Sigma Phi Club in Sussex, she was active in their Family Business "Horton's Boot and Shoe Company Limited" which was located in Sussex.
Alyce Geraldine Horton of Sussex, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on June 25, 2000 at the age of 89. Born in Bridgedale, on March 5, 1911, she was the daughter of the late Joseph B. Steeves and Bessie (Gunning) Steeves and was the wife of the late George Edgar () Horton. Alyce will be remembered by her daughter; Pat Secord of Wards Creek; two sons; Rick and his wife Patricia and Grant and his wife Marilyn all of Penobsquis; seven grandchildren; Sandy, Heather, George, Kim, Peter, Stacey and Gillian; nine great-grandchildren, Josh, Lucas, Justin, Alex, Colin, Danielle, Brenaugh, Kyra and Naima and also by several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) on Tuesday 7-9 Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm.
A service celebrating Alyce Geraldine's life will be held from St. John's United Church on Thursday, June 29, 2000 at 2:00 pm. The interment will take place at Kirk Hill Cemetery.
