Obituary of Earl Rice
Earl Rice was born in Hampstead on October 23, 1923, he was the son of the late Harvey and Bertha (Appleby) Rice and was the husband of the late Shirley Irene (Carleton) Rice.
Earl served overseas during World War II with the First Canadian Paratroop Batalian Co. C. He was a 30 year veteran of the Saint John Police Department having retired in 1979. He was a member of the Saint John Police Retired Members Association. He was a past president and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Saint John Branch # 69 for over 40 years. He was also a member of Royal Canadian Legion Sussex Branch # 20. He was a member of the Carleton Lodge # 8 F&AM, a member of the Maple Leaf of Luxor, the Luxor Shriners Club and a honorary member of Luxor A.A.O.N.M.S Arab Patrol. He was a member of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Valley of Saint John. A member of Saint John Lodge of Perfection and a member of Harington Sovereign, Chapter Rose Croix, New Brunswick Sovereign Consistory.
Mr. Earl Wilmot Rice of Picadilly, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on May 31, 2000 at the age of 76.
Earl Wilmot will be remembered by four sons; Earl and his wife Leslie of Saint John; Gary and his wife Donna of Head of Millstream; Wayne and his wife Carol of Hampton; David and his wife Debbie of Vancouver; one brother; Hazen Rice of Truro, Nova Scotia; one sister, Dale Hauser of Alberta; 13 grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, and by several nieces and nephews.
Earl was predeceased by a great grandson; Brandon, three brothers; Victor, Walter and Irvine.
