Beatrice Chown was born in Canaan, Queens Co. on December 29, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Martin and Mary (Hutchins) Beck and was the wife of the late Hedley Chown. Beatrice Leah Chown of Keirstead Mountain, passed away at the Saint John Regional Hospital on May 29, 2000 at the age of 73. Beatrice will be remembered by two daughters; Marion Hunter and her husband Ronald of Douglas Harbour, NB; Darlene Bryant of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; two sons, Martin and his wife Joan of Hammondvale; Douglas and his wife Shaun of Keirstead Mountain; four brothers; Walter and his wife Annie of Canaan, Jim and Loretta of Cherryvale, Ernest of Coles Island, Leslie and Louella of Fork Stream; four sisters; Dora Phillips and her husband Charles of Coles Island, Lola Brooker and her husband Barry of Winnipeg, Edith Price of Hope Well Cape, Shirley Black and her husband Joe of Cherryvale; nine grandchildren; Andrew, Aaron, Kevin Hunter, Jeremy Chown, Lisa, Dana and Blake Bryant, Gillian and Colban Chown and also several nieces and nephews. Beatrice was predeceased by a brother, George Beck and a sister, Iva Smith. The family will receive relatives and friends at Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) on Tuesday 7-9, Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm . A service celebrating Beatrice Leah's life will be held from Keirstead Mountain United Baptist Church on Thursday, June 1, 2000 at 2:00 pm.
