Obituary of Gordon Hughes
Gordon Hughes was born in Cody's, on October 3, 1907, he was the
son of the late Edwin and Julia (Doney) Hughes and was the husband of the late Anna (Noddin) Hughes.
Gordon was the former owner and operator of Gordon Hughes Garage & Service Station in Cody's. For many years Gordon worked as a licensed electrician, mechanic and plumber in Kings and Queens County. He graduated from Coyne Electrical School, Chicago, Il, in 1929. He was a member of the Cody's United Baptist Church.
Gordon Harold Hughes of Cody's, passed away at the Mill Cove Nursing Home on January 24, 2000 at the age of 92. Gordon will be remembered by a daughter; Doris Edling and her husband Don of Hampton; four sons; Edwin and his wife Catherine of Cody's, Robin and his wife Cheryl of Sussex, John of Toronto and his companion Jean, Charles and his wife Valerie of Jemseg; his brother; Gerald of Florida; his sister-in-law, Audrey Smith of Moncton; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; also by several nieces and nephews. Gordon was predeceased by a brother; Chester and a daughter-in-law; Helen.
The family will receive relatives and friends at Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) on Tuesday 2-4 & 7-9 pm.
A service celebrating Gordon Harold's life will be held from Cody's United Baptist Church on Wednesday, January 26, 2000 at 3:00 pm. The interment will take place at Coles Island Cemetery.
