Joseph McMackin was born in Upham on July 5, 1911, he was the son of the late James and Mary (Farren) McMackin and was the husband of Sarah (Meehan) McMackin. Mr. Joseph Alphonsus McMackin of Sussex, passed away at his residence on April 26, 1999 at the age of 87. Besides his wife, Joseph will be remembered by his five daughters; Josie Beyea and her husband Bert of Hampton, Mary Mahoney of Moncton, Roberta Bourque and her husband Ronnie of Fairvale, Donna McPhee and her husband Mike of Quispamsis, Barbie Seely and her husband Norman of Fairvale; seven sons; Jim and his wife Ruth of Quispamsis, Elward and his wife Phyllis of Hampton, David and his wife Bertha of Sussex, Joe and his wife Barb of Hammondvale, Andrew and his wife Maureen of Burlington, Ontario, Pat and his wife Ruby of Sussex, Henry and Rhonda of Hamilton, Ontario; his brother; Patrick of Saint John; four sisters, Margaret Sherwood of Sussex, Dorothy Fudge of Saint John, Miriam Monahan of Saint John, Anne Russo of Gainsville, Florida; 34 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, also several nieces and nephews. Joseph was predeceased by a daughter, Anna Rose, two sons; Bernard and Simon Peter, a sister Elizabeth and three brothers; James, Thomas and Michael. The family will receive relatives and friends at Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) on Tuesday 7-9pm, Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm. A service celebrating Joseph's life will be held from St. Francis Xavier on Thursday, April 29, 1999 at 9:30 am. The interment will take place at Wards Creek Cemetery. www.wallacefuneralhome.com
