John McGovern was born in River Hebert, on February 17, 1945, he was the son of Edmund and Alvina (Brine) McGovern and was the husband of Patricia (Moore) McGovern. John was retired from Lafarge Canada. He was a past member of Zion Lodge #21 F&AM, The Royal Arch, The Order of the Eastern Star and the Sussex Gyro. Mr. John William McGovern of Picadilly, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on December 25, 1998 at the age of 53. John will be remembered by his wife; Patricia; three sons; Gerald and his wife Teresa of Lower Sackville, NS, Jeffery of Halifax, Neal of Dartmouth; two sisters; Mildred Barr and her husband Peter of St. Albert, Alberta, Grace Gallagher of Halifax; two grandchildren; Ryan and Angeline; father-in-law; Cecil Moore of Picadilly; also by several nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by a son; Andrew. The family will receive relatives and friends at Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) on Sunday 7-9 pm and Monday 2-4 & 7-9 pm. A service celebrating John's life will be held from St. Paul's United Church on Tuesday, December 29, 1998 at 12:00 pm. The interment will take place at Riverbank Cemetery. www.wallacefuneralhome.com
