Obituary of Edna Buchanan

Edna Buchanan was born on June 2nd, 1918. Edna was the daughter of Richard and Ella McGivery and they lived in Hammondvale. Edna's legal guardians were Arthur and Elizabeth Ash and they also lived in Hammondvale. She attended school not only in Hammondvale, but Hillsdale as well. While spending time with her friends, Edna was introduced to the love of her life, Harry Buchanan. Harry worked in the pulp woods and for the Department of Transportation. She was seventeen years old when they married on October 16th, 1935, in the Sussex Parsonage. They were married for fifty-four years and had eleven wonderful children. Edna was a devoted mother and stayed home to raise her children. She loved baking, reading, listening to music, shopping and knitting socks and mitts for her family. Edna loved watching her soap operas. One special thing she really enjoyed doing was making a pot of tea and waiting for company to stop in. She enjoyed talking for hours with family and friends. . Edna enjoyed making large pots of stew, which her children enjoyed even after they moved away from home. She was always there for her children when problems came their way. She wqas always there for support and would help in any way she could. Edna and Harry always enjoyed going to Fundy National Park and taking their family with them. She would go for many drives with her sister, Eva, laughing and talking the entire time. Edna also enjoyed her drives to St. Martin's to see the Bay of Fundy, and of course getting her maple ice cream.
