Dear Dolores , Lauren ,Liz and Lee Mike and I are Mayfield grads. Reading his well written obituary reminded me just how short life is when one of your class mates passes away. I recall Mike having an entrepreneurial spirit from the feed store he opened in Inglewood Ontario which catered to the horse industry. He moved to the east coast to work for Irving Oil ( I believe ) and every so often I'd be reminded of him through my mother Willa who had just played bridge Dolores . I'm forever grateful to Mike for the support and kindness he showed to Ali and Anna as kids. He was as enthusiastic about their backyard ponies as he was about the more ambitious horses and riders. He truly espoused the idea of grass root development of the sport of eventing and developed a generation of enthusiasts. Thank you Michael, for spreading the joy.

Alison and family, I was so sorry to hear about Mike’s passing. I first met Mike when he did a cross country clinic at Hampton Riding Centre about 10 years ago. He was so great to my daughter and her new pony, lots of patience and wisdom. I enjoyed all her clinics with Mike. I was fortunate to have a nice chat with Mike at Foshay in the spring!
