Obituary of Frederick Leslie Vail

It is with sadness that the family of Frederick Leslie Vail, age 90, announces his death which occurred on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at the Sussex Health Centre.  He was born on October 16, 1932, in Cody’s, NB, a son of the late Harold and Phoebe (Perry) Vail.

He is survived by his sister-in-law Irma Vail-Chatson (Larry Chatson) of Sussex Corner, NB; niece Datha (Jeff) Leavitt of Newtown, NB; great-nephews: Daniel (Jessica) Leavitt, Bradley (Shaylyn) Leavitt; great-great-niece and nephews: Gracelynn, Malachi and Landon.  Fred was predeceased by his brothers Ernie, Frank and sister Elizabeth.

Uncle Fred was a quiet gentle soul with a heart of gold.  He served our country in the Korean War and was a bricklayer by trade.

Being the only child in the family, I had all of his attention most of the time, until his great nephews and great great niece and nephews arrived, then I had to share, but he had plenty of love for all of us.

He and my Dad were more than brothers, they were best friends.  They made many friends on their walks and were often known as the walkers pulling a red wagon, with our children in tow.  His heart broke when Dad passed away, but now they're together again walking the streets of gold.

I'd like to thank my Mom for all her love and care for Uncle Fred after Dad's passing.  We appreciate all you did for him, your kindness will not be forgotten!

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), from where visitation will be held on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 4 to 7PM.  Funeral Service will take place on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at 11:00AM from Wallace Community Chapel.  Interment will take place in Trinity Anglican Cemetery.
