Obituary of Melvina Ferris

It is with heavy hearts that the family of the late Melvina Ferris announce her passing peacefully at the Saint John Regional Hospital on September 3, 2023 at the age of 82.

Born in Dalhousie on August 8, 1941; she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Doreen (Doucet) Harquail and the wife of the late Frederick Ferris.

Melvina overcame many obstacles in her younger years and therefore always tried to make the best of everything she could and always tried to find the silver lining in everything. She had a deep faith and love for her church.

She was a loving wife and mother first and foremost, but worked for Microsystems for a time while they lived in Ottawa.

She had a passion for cooking and crafts and loved music; but her true passion was making other people laugh and smile. She was a kindhearted woman, and she will be deeply missed.

She will live on in the hearts of her children: Cindy Valliant (Andrew Lee) of Saint John, Brenda Thomas of Wickham, Jimmy Ferris (Dorothy) of Ontario, Brian Ferris (Pamela) of Saint John and George Ferris (Barbara) of Miramichi; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind many lovely friends at the Lions Villa in Sussex Corner; as well as several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, brothers and sisters-in-law and extended family members.

Along with her parents and her husband, she is predeceased by her daughter, Carol Ferris.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176). A graveside service will be held from Cardwell Cemetery (Church Loop Rd, Penobsquis) on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at 1:00pm.
