Even though Lauchie was never blood related it’s always felt like he was apart of the hickeys. I will cherish every memory he spent with us whether that was teaching Connor and I to drive, helping me build my trampoline, take it apart and then putting it back up... And of course the regular suppers at our house. my heart is sad, but I will carry these memories with me forever. My condolences to his family.

When he knew Dev was going to be working in Cape Breton in the tunnels he would always ask how he was doing and knew some of the workers that Dev was working with. Can not say enough nice things about Lauchie. A true gentleman !!

Mary Annette, Marge, Valerie and all family, I send my deepest sympathy. A year or so ago I had a nice chat with Lauchie as he was going into Mary Annette's in Port Hawkesbury. I had my covid mask on so when I stopped I jokingly asked for directions to North Granville St. which is where we both grew up. He quite sincerely started giving me directions until I lowered my mask & we had a great chuckle so I'll always remember his laugh. You are all in my thoughts & prayers during these difficult days.

I loved when Lauchie would come over to our house, his presence always made it feel like it was a special event. I remember his incredible patience with me while he was teaching me how to drive-how he’d crack little jokes while I was frustrated with the basics of the road. I remember every time he’d tell a story I was instantly hooked.

Now is the time. You know and I know most people can say what they want in a few lines and we both know I can't, lol. This time I am trying to make it as short as I can. The tears are flowing as I type. I know you and God are watching over me as I have already had a few signs the first being that I was not to be alone when I found out, thank you Sandra. There are only a few who have done for me what you have done, just one example, and this during covid, waiting outside emerg in Saint John after driving me down there with papers in hand for a cat scan, waiting outside for 6 hours only to find out from someone inside that I finally convinced to go out and tell you to go home as I would be having surgery sometime through the night. That's a dedicated good friend. And that is only one example, believe me there are many more. So, Lauchie, I hope you are wearing that pink shirt I bought you and only you and I understand that story, lol.. I will never forget you. Rest high on that mountain, Lauchie, your work on earth is done. See you on the other side.
To Valerie, Stephen, Natalie and Kyle (thank you Kyle for holding me up Sunday) ~ my sincerest, warmest condolences to you and all your families (including Mary Annette and Marge whom I met at Valerie and Steven's wedding and his other Sharp family).

Sincere condolences to Lauchie’s children and grandchildren. You were his everything! I remember being so impressed with his patience during his old friend Wendy’s move back to Marble Mountain. The lack of heavy lifters did not deter him from getting it done. He was a devoted family man and like his mother, was gentle and kind. I remember hearing Margaret say so many times that she had her baking done, because Lauchie and M.C. were on their way. Condolences to Mary Annette, Marge, Wade, Kim and Ian on the loss of a brother and uncle. He will be remembered in the years to come, by all those whose lives he touched. Thinking of you all, especially during these hard days, ahead.
Sincerely,

During many of our visits Lauchie would be home and we always enjoyed his stories. He was a kind gentle man and he will be missed. Now he’s with his beloved MC in heaven. I am so sorry to hear of Lauchie's passing. Our condolences go out to his family and friends.
He was always smiling and in a good mood, and I always loved chatting with him. He always asked me how my music was going, and if I'd be performing anywhere soon, and was genuinely interested. On different occasions, he'd ask me I'd heard a specific song yet (that he'd recently heard on the radio) ... and it was usually a NEW song. He always seemed to be up with the times when it came to music, and would suggest songs for me to try.
There many times my husband and I bumped into Lauchie when we were out ... even in Saint John. I believe one time was New Year's Eve. He'd always stop and say Hello and have a little chat. I always liked Lauchie.
Again, my heart goes out to his family and friends.

I first met Lauchie when we worked together at the shaft sinking at Clover Hill as it was known then. Later Potacan in the summer of 1979. We hit it off and been friends ever since. He was a guy who always asked what you were up too and how’s the family. Took the time to listen and was interested in the answer. Salt of the earth , as good as they come are just a couple of ways to describe him. We were shocked to hear his passing and going to miss seeing his big smile when he spotted a friend from across the room. Rest in peace my friend.

Our deepest sympathy to Valerie and family at this time. Lauchie was more like family to the Warmans than a wonderful neighbor. His many visits over the years hold a special place in our hearts , making us chuckle when there wasn't much to chuckle about.
As you said, he was always ready to go on a car buying trip, go to Nova Scotia to look at trailers, or come to pick us up when our van quit while going to Saint John. He always seemed to enjoy sitting beside the wood stove in a wool sweater, enjoying the heat and chats. We will definitely miss him but I know he will be telling jokes and doing a little jig to entertain Mary and his many friends that have passed before him. I know that he will rest in peace. God Bless
