Obituary of Sandy Allain
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Sandra Norene Allain announce her passing at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on September 15, 2023 at the age of 81.
Born in Charlottetown, PEI on July 15, 1942; she was the daughter of the late Lionel and Sybil (Reynolds) Strong.
After graduating from The Ottawa Civic Hospital - School of Nursing she moved to Boisetown, NB to work as a Public Health Nurse. It was there that she met the love of her life - her husband of 55 years Lee (Junior) Allain. The couple eventually settled in Sussex in 1972 where they raised their family. Sandy spent many hours in the arena with her daughters as members of the Sussex Figure Skating Club. Most of those hours were spent in the music room with several of the other mothers from the club. She had very fond memories of her time with her extended skating family.
She worked at the Kiwanis Nursing Home for many years before retiring to spend more time with her grandchildren. She was loved by both residents and staff of the nursing home. Her family will be forever grateful for the care and support that was provided to her by the staff members of the Kiwanis Nursing home in her final year.
She will be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother, an avid reader and meticulous seamstress. She will also be remembered for her sharp wit delivered with a soft tone, as well as her dry sense of humour.
She will live on in the hearts of her loving husband Lee, her 2 daughters Peggy (Graham) Hullah and Patti (Jeff Hersey) Allain, her brother Larry (Florence) Strong, sister Heather (Blake) Fullerton and her grandchildren Dania, Cayden and Kacy Hullah and Leandra and Nicholas Hersey.
Along with her parents she is predeceased by her sister Sheila (Strong) Neill.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB(506-433-1176). A Mass will be held on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 11:00am at St Francis Xavier Catholic Parish Church.
