Obituary of Ruth Elva Evangeline Floyd
It is with great sadness that the family of Ruth Elva Evangeline Floyd announce her passing at home on December 5, 2023 at the age of 84.
Ruth was born in Hammondvale, New Brunswick on June 28, 1939 to Walter and Beatrice (Black) Seeley, the ninth of ten children.
In May of 1976, Ruth married Stewart and they went on to dance through the next 47 years together.
Ruth’s greatest pride was her family. It took many nightly phone calls, but she always kept tabs on what her children, 13 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren were doing. She often could be found at the hockey rink cheering. Ruth never hesitated to travel, near and far, to see family although she was happiest when her home was filled with family and friends.
Ruth dedicated over 38 years in the kitchen at the Timberland Restaurant. She took great pride in her work and community, volunteering many hours. She had a gift for quilting and blessed many with a handmade gift. She also enjoyed dancing and on occasion you may have heard her playing the fiddle or banjo.
Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her husband Stewart; her brother Vernon (Betty) Seeley of Sussex; her children: Murray (Elke) Wedge, Walter, Alan Wedge, Cynthia (Michael) Freeze and Sheldon (Wendy) Floyd; her grandchildren: Matthew (Tricia) Freeze, Terra (Jason) Kennedy, Garett (Judy) Freeze, Jacklyn Wedge, Trista Wedge, Tyler Freeze, Marissa (Kerry) Shanklin, Shelby Chambers, Briana Wedge, Mattias Floyd, Vanessa Wedge, Asha Floyd and Adara Floyd; and great-grandchildren: Emma, Courtney, Addison, Aislinn and Cameron as well as several nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Ruth was predeceased by her daughter Cheryl; siblings Althea, Vera, Walter, Gertrude, Lloyd, Freda, Gerald, and Ronald.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where visitation will be held on Sunday, December 10th from 2-4pm and 6-8pm.
A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held at Trinity Anglican Church, 853 Main St, Sussex, on Monday, December 11th at 11am. Interment to be held at a later date.
Donations in memory of Ruth may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
