Obituary of Paul Owen Veysey

It is with heavy hearts that we share the sad news of the passing of our family's loved one, Paul Owen Veysey. On February 12, 2024, he departed peacefully from this life into Heaven with his loving wife Lynn of nearly 44 years and family and friends at his side.

On December 13, 1948, Paul was born in Sussex, NB to proud parents Ross and Gladys (Tabor) Veysey. He later became the big brother of his only sibling Judy.

Paul was truly a remarkable man who left an impression on the hearts of all he met. He was a loving husband, brother, brother-in-law, nephew and uncle. He was a special man indeed! Particularly to the kids who chose to call him their special “Uncle Paulie”. He also had many nicknames for the kids. Paul loved his coke and chocolate. Some even knew where his secret stash was and he didn't mind sharing.

This amazing man certainly had the 'gift of gab' and captured the attention of all who listened to the stories he told.

Being an avid reader, he eagerly shared his knowledge with family and friends or anyone else who would listen. His compassionate nature and sense of humor made him a joy to be around. His fervorous zeal and love for nature was demonstrated by his passions in life. Being a trucker for many years gave him the joy for scenic drives. He enjoyed travelling to and fro whether it be alone in a big truck, in a car with Lynn , with friends on an ATV, or his Goldwing. So many wonderful memories with friends were made throughout Canada and USA.

His extroverted personality gave him zeal to spend time with friends. Whether it be a hunting trip at Rolly's camp, Fish and Game dinners or Thursday morning breakfast with the guys. Paul absolutely loved volunteering at Penobsquis Fun Days as well as other community events. Being the comical man he was, these events gave him ample opportunities to tease others especially the kids at the Fish & Game shooting range.

Paul was an active Royal Canadian Legion branch #20 Sussex member for 56 years. He was currently serving as president. He was also a valuable member of the Sussex Fish & Game Assoc and enjoyed serving where needed. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.

Paul was predeceased by his parents Ross and Gladys.

A very special heartfelt thanks to both Oncology Departments in Saint John and Sussex, Medical Surgical Intensive Care unit Moncton, Dr. Smith, Dr. Gray, Dr. Thompson and Dr. Lim as well as their teams. Also, Wallace Funeral Home.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Wallace Funeral Home 34 Sunnyside drive Sussex, NB from where visitation will take place on Friday Feb 16 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm. The Legion tribute will take place at 2 pm prior to visitation. A celebration of Paul's life will take place on Saturday Feb 17 @ 11:00 am from Penobsquis Baptist Church with the burial immediately following. All are welcome at the graveside. Refreshments to follow, downstairs at the church.

Donations in memory of Paul may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion branch # 20 Sussex, Sussex Fish and Game Assoc, Canadian Cancer Society or any other charity of the donors choice. Personal condolences to the family and donations may be made through wallacefuneralhome.com
