Our condolences to the family on the passing of Janet Eldridge. I recall with fond memories when I first met Janet and Keith. In 1975 I had gotten married and settled in St. John’s, Newfoundland. We had many dawn prayers, Feasts and holy day celebrations at their home. I still have the beautiful painting (and many more) which Keith and Janet gave us as a wedding gift. May their beautiful souls continue to progress in the spiritual world. ❤️❤️

To all Janet's family our prayers with so many wonderful memories and thoughts!
Janet, and Keith, were dear friends over so many years, our paths crossing many times in different parts of the world. Here in St, John's at a low point in community life, Janet regularly held an open house offering hospitality with a huge pot of soup every Sunday evening to many. Her warmth and kindness touched many lonely hearts.
At the Women's Conference in Beijing, and at Spring Festival in Hangzhou, China, we met unexpectedly with such joy!
Every time we visited family in New Brunswick a trip to see Janet ans Keith in Sussex was a must and we always came away enriched!
In these last years phone calls kept us in touch and many prayers were shared when she could no longer read them herself, but remained bright and cheerful. We miss you Janet!

Our deepest condolences to the family and friends of Janet Eldridge. As others have mentioned, she was a world citizen, an intelligent lady who respected all, was very inclusive and as others would attest, you felt at home in her presence. She and Keith were highly hospitable, generous and keenly appreciative of diversity and the need to be kind to all. My wife, Trish and I have known Janet and Keith for over fifty years, first meeting them when we were teenagers and newly attracted to the teachings of the Baha'I Faith. They were living in a big house then near the Fredericton airport which provided a venue for Keith’s creative artistic endeavors and also a place which welcomed Baha’is and their friends for summer and winter schools where we would study Baha’i teachings and consult on ways we could be of service in our respective communities. There was much fellowship, laughter and mingling of people from all walks of life and cultures. Keith and Janet were particularly close to the indigenous friends. Janet was adept at making large pots of yummy food (with the help of others) and always had cookies and refreshments ready for the hungry youth.
Although they never had children of their own, many of us felt we were adopted by them and remained close to them over the years. We all benefited from their wise counsel and followed their exploits as they moved about the Atlantic provinces and China. Trish and I were lucky enough to live in Sussex for a number of years which overlapped with when Keith and Janet resided here and from which they set off to China on more than one occasion.
We always looked forward to visiting with them and with Janet after Keith passed. They were of a generation of Baha’is who helped build a strong foundation for the Baha’i Faith in Canada and abroad and never faltered in their steadfast determination to apply the teachings of Baha’u’llah to all aspects of their life, particularly their relationships with others. We are so grateful for having known them and been encouraged by their shining examples. Well done, Janet, well done!

Janet is my Aunt-She holds a special place in my heart-Even as a small child she talked to me like an equal and was always interested in what I had to say-I don't remember her ever raising her voice in angry-She was a world traveller who enjoyed all that life had to offer-she was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone -she firmly believed in education and in retirement helped people to read and write and went to China with her husband to help teach "walking around English" to university students-She found joy in every thing she experienced whether it was gardening-trying a new recipe or meeting new people-She was a great example of a genuine human being and I feel I am a better person for having known her-I feel blessed to have had her for my aunt and life will be less without her-I miss you-Happy journey!!!

My sincere condolences to dear Janet Eldridge's family. I first met Janet and Keith in Halifax in December 1955, and many times after that Elizabeth (my wife) and I visited them in New Brunswick. We also greatly enjoyed our many shared times in the years they lived in Newfoundland. One special memory is that Elizabeth, our son John, and I shared with Janet a pilgrimage to the Baha'i Holy Places in 1980, staying in the same hotel and having many meals together. She is an amazing person, a genuine world citizen.

My sympathies to Janet’s family,
It was an honour to have been Janet’s Extra Mural Nurse for the past few years. I enjoyed my visits with her at Scenic View. She shared many stories with me and the other ladies who lived there about her life and family growing up. We always had a lovely chat and she never once complained about anything. She was such an intelligent lady. I’d known her from the library as well, before she retired. I found it fascinating to hear about her work over seas and she’d remember everything with such detail.
Please accept my deepest condolences,
Sue McFarland, Sussex EMP
