Obituary of Annie Marie McLean
It is with great sadness that the family of Annie Marie McLean of Apohaqui, NB, announce her passing at her home on July 6, 2024, surrounded by her loving family.
Annie was born on January 26th, 1932 in Saint John, NB
Annie was the daughter of the late Leslie Best and Gertrude (Rossiter) Best, and wife of the late Viotti (Otty) McLean.
Dedicating her life to her family, she became a stay at home mom raising her eight children. Annie loved her family very much and was always ready and willing to cook dinner for a large crowd. She made dinner for her family almost every Sunday after church. She loved nothing more than having her children and their families come gather at her house right up until the day she passed. She especially looked forward to having all the little ones come visit and she always had a treat for them, even if it was just a pink peppermint.
She had a passion for music and playing the piano. She played piano at Calvary Pentecostal Church for 70 years and was inducted into the Gospel Hall of Fame in 2007. Annie and her husband Otty were always there so early that they eventually gave them a key to the church doors which they opened every Sunday. They had two chairs by the sanctuary ready to greet everyone as they came in. If one word could sum up Annie’s approach to her family and her church it would be: Faithful.
Annie will live on in the heart of her children: Shirley Leiper (Allen) of Sussex, NB, Edwin McLean (Sharon) of Riverbank, NB, Barbara Gallant of Sussex, NB, Wanda McArthur (Burt) of Roachville, NB, Russell McLean (Sandy) of Penobsquis, NB, Wellington McLean (Patty) of Hammondvale, NB, Annette Cruickshank (Blynn) of Apohaqui, NB, Tony McLean (Darlene) of Norton, NB and Son-in-law Lester Gallant of Sussex, NB.
