Bernice Pearson

Obituary of Bernice Pearson

It is with heavy hearts that the family of Bernice Eleanor (Armstrong) Pearson announce her passing at the Kiwanis Nursing Home on October 2, 2024 at the age of 89.

Born in Norton, NB, on September 20, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lena (Stackhouse) Armstrong and the wife of the late Clifford Pearson.

Bernice was very special to her family and many friends. She began her working career at the Sheer Silk Hosiery in Sussex and over the years worked at Blacks Fashions and as a sales clerk for the Sussex Mall Lotto Booth.

She married the love of her life, Clifford Pearson, on November 3, 1956 and together they shared 59 wonderful years together, most of them in Roachville. Their life was filled with love, laughter, many card games, fishing trips, cross country skiing and dancing until his passing on December 23, 2015.

Bernice was one of the kindest, most generous souls you could ever meet. The teapot was always on and if you wouldn’t let her feed you, you were at least leaving with something to take with you. She loved picking Mayflowers, wild blueberries to bake her husband a delicious pie, and enjoyed packing a picnic and getting together with family, especially her sisters who were affectionately known as the Golden Girls.

She will live on in the hearts of her brother, Glendon Armstrong (Eleanor) of Rothesay; her favourite niece, Debbie Scott; several nieces and nephews and extended family members who knew her as Auntie B, as well as Brett Bell who was like a son to her and Clifford.

Along with her parents and husband, she is predeceased by her siblings: Thomas LeRoy Armstrong (Anna), Winnifred Alcorn (Lee), Leona Allen (Lawrence), Yvonne Muir (Mansel), Beryl Howe (Ivan), and Russell Armstrong and Faye Armstrong who both died in infancy.

Bernice's family would like to thank the nurses and staff of Kiwanis Nursing Home for their love and care during her time there.

Arrangements are entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive Sussex, NB (506-433-1176). At Bernice’s request all arrangements will be held privately. The interment will take place at the Upper Springfield Cemetery.

Donations made to the Church of the Ascension, Apohaqui, the Diabetic Association, or a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Donations and personal condolences to the family may be made through www.wallacefuneralhome.com
