Obituary of Walter McAllister
Walter Emerson McAllister, of Snider Mountain, NB, passed away at the Sussex Health Centre on February 24, 2003. Born in Ripples, NB, on August 15, 1927, he was the son of the late Walter Emerson McAllister Sr. and Jessie (Lunergan) Jordan McAllister. Walter is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Margaret (Gregg); his 10 children: Shirley Ferris and her husband Reg of Mill Cove; Ernest McAllister and his wife Nancy of Snider Mtn.; Peter McAllister and his wife Debbie of Bedford, NS; Murray McAllister and his wife Carolyn of Snider Mtn.; Barbara McAllister of Rothesay; Beverly West of Halifax, NS; Wayne McAllister and his wife Carol of Snider Mtn.; Earl McAllister and his wife Micheline of Hubbards, NS; Susanne McAllister of Snider Mtn. and Nathan Phillips of Chipman; Rachel Starr and her husband Walter of Hillsborough, Oregon; 23 grand-children: Jeffrey, Pamela, Graham, Rodney, Carmen, Adam, Joel, Jesse, Carrie, Derek, Stephanie, Matthew, Jason, Wayne, Chris, Charles, Will, Joe, Duncan, Maggie, Emily, Seth and Amelia; 9 great-grandchildren: Zachary, Jordan, Joel, Derian, Alec, Katelyn, Chelsea, Hannah and Bronwyn; 2 brothers: Aubrey McAllister and his wife Viola of Minto; Ivan McAllister and his wife Sarah of Long Creek; 8 sisters: Mabel MacBeth of Ripples; Marlene Taylor of Mill Cove; Mary Bird and her husband Dale of Burtts Corner; Lorna Kolls and her husband Fred of Regina, SK; Judy Perry and her husband John of Codys; Brenda Fowlie and her husband Ron of Quispamsis; Ellen Molloy and her husband Dennis of Codys; Janice Chase and her husband Jeffrey of Chipman; his stepmother: Olive McAllister of Coles Island; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary McAllister of Ripples and Joanne Jordan of Maine; as well as several nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by 4 brothers: Lloyd and George McAllister, and Ernest and Wilfred Jordan. Walter was a carpenter by trade and retired from Brunswick Lab. Throughout his life he turned his hand to working in the woods, road construction and sawmill work. Among his hobbies he enjoyed hunting, old cars and reading. Walter was a member of the Abundant Life United Pentecostal Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176), where the family will be receiving relatives and friends on Wednesday 2-4, 7-9. The Funeral Service is held from Abundant Life United Pentecostal Church, Thursday, February 27, 2003, at 2:00 pm, with the Reverends Russell Morehouse and Dennis Munn officiating. Interment is at Snider Mountain United Cemetery.
