I remember John fondly from my childhood, always with an easy smile and a quick laugh. He often had a joke or a story to tell me when we were at church. I can remember John involved with the annual Penobsquis Fun Days; joining in the activities.
May you find peace in your happy memories.

To Nancy & family,
So sorry to hear about John. Wonderful memories from working with him all those years ago as well as the drives from Windsor to Sussex, especially after he jumped out of the big truck into the VW Beetle and we merrily headed through Rawdon. He was always a true pleasure to work with - even after the Friday afternoon I hid the chrome knob from the stick shift and he drove that big Ford all weekend without it (I left work thinking he has found it). Forever teasing us "younger" ones with that tremendous smile that helped define him.
Our sincere condolences.
Love,
Gary & Susan Nelson

Dear Nancy, Peter, Heather, Lesley & families
Andy & I send our heartfelt condolences to you all as you grieve and remember, John. I have so many beautiful memories of your visits over the years. So much laughter! Us kids were always included in the fun and created memories I hold dear to my heart. There was never anyone else I considered worthy to give the Toast to the Bride at our wedding. I was busting with pride as he spoke… such a special man I feel blessed to have known.
Welcome to your heavenly home, John
Love you all

Nancy & Family,
So sorry to learn of John's passing. Thoughts and prayers to you and your Family.
Met John many years ago, in the early years, John would bounce up the stairs to Grover Crothers
office which was next door to us at SNB Wood Co-op. In years that followed, John came through our doors many, many times. He never travelled at a slow pace, always on the run, in the door, slips on the counter and saying "I'm in a hurry". However, he always ended up telling a story or two before he left. And if his eyes caught a fellow trucker in the office, most certainly he had to stop and chat with him. John and his drivers provided exceptional service to many woodlot owners in southern New Brunswick, trucking their wood and delivering product to the mills for many years. Over the years it was always nice to see you and your children visit our office as well, dropping off slips and picking up cheques, and was great to see Peter involved in the business and going forward with the company. We think of you all often.
Hope your many memories with John will provide you great comfort to carry you until you meet again.
R.I.P John.

"Neither rain, nor snow, nor an injured Achilles tendon shall keep John from a social event."
In the mid-90's we were part of a group of Penobsquis friends including John and Nancy who took turns hosting games of Crokinole through the winter. John loved having fun. Even with a foot in a cast, crutches, icy driveways and not being able to drive, couldn't stop John from smiling and getting to the next event.
Such great memories!

For me, memories of John centre around being at church, Sunday School and fellowship at his and Nancy's home in Penobsquis.
You could always count on there being a pink peppermint for you in his suit coat pocket. Also, if you had a cookie, he would probably get a good bite off it and a gingerbread man would lose his head for sure! :)
Another funny memory I have of John is when our family met up with the Murrays in Florida (at the Strawberry Festival, I believe), and Denise and I thought that John was just joking around as he turned more and more green from the spinning & up and down of the Tilt-A-Whirl ride! Only as we saw him run off the ride to find a corner in the grass to lose his lunch, did we realize he actually felt sick!!
John was always ready to laugh and a tease, and could take it as well as he gave it. Just thinking of him brings a smile to my face. I'm grateful that the Lord placed him in my life. And I'm blessed to know that I'll see him again when I go Home.
Much love to Nancy and the whole family.

Sincere sympathy on the passing of John.
What fun we had with him at Kingsco, when he filled in between managers. Trying to teach him the phone system was interesting! John liked to lean back in his office chair but would end up on the floor. He taught us how to get candy out of the vending machine by using a penny and a paper clip. I could go on and on! He was quite the card!
He and Nancy were a wonderful team. Very thoughtful and kind and always fun to be around. Cherish your wonderful memories. Thinking of you all!
