Obituary of John Douglas Stuart Murray
Surrounded by family, John Douglas Stewart Murray of Riverview/Penobsquis passed away peacefully at the Moncton City Hospital on Sunday, February 5 at the age of 80.
He is survived by wife Nancy Lee (Mercer) Murray, of Apohaqui and children Peter Murray (Dawn Constantine) of Penobsquis, Heather Hunt (Barry) of Moncton, and Lesley Stewart (Bradley) of Miramichi. John leaves behind a sister Donna (Tom) Stultz of Riverview and brother Ed (Donna) Murray of Penobsquis. His Mercer sisters-in-law, Susan Anderson, Cathy Alexander, and Jane Mercer will miss teasing and getting teased by him! His five grandchildren Kennedy Hunt, Keegan Hunt, Jack Stewart, Cohen Stewart, and Case Stewart will remember his stories, foolishness, and undivided attention.
John is predeceased by his parents, Don and Doris Murray, (McCready) of Penobsquis, baby brother, Gary Murray (Pat) of Cassidy Lake, and sister-in-law, MaryAnn Sproul. He was also predeceased by brothers-in-law Bob Anderson, Stan Sproul, and Bob Alexander.
Johnny loved his family and friends, laughter, travel, the Bluejays, and an ice-cold Diet Coke. He will be missed immensely.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, NB (506-433-1176) from where a visitation will be held on Friday, February 10 from 6-8:30pm. A celebration of John’s life will be held from the Wallace Community Chapel on Saturday, February 11 at 11:00am.
