I was so blessed to have had this gentle, kind man in my life as a child, so many incredible memories, but what always amazed me as a child, was his ability to be so calm in the midst of the chaos. My best and favoriate memory is one of him sitting in his chair, smoking his pipe... reading... while his four children and neighnbour children were playing and running through the house It didn"t seem to phase him, I got the impression at the time he loved it. Years of being an incredible neighbour, he added greatly to the feeling as a child of always being safe and loved in my neighbourhood and community. My deepest and heartfelt condolences to Mrs.Beaman, Lori. Sue, Heidi and Scott and all the children and grandchildren. God bless and comfort all, you are in my prayers.

Dawn and all of the Beaman family. I am so sorry to learn of Doug's passing .I was so fortunate to teach with Doug through all my teaching years and have always counted him as the most special of anyone that I did work with..I cannot recall any circumstance that we shared that was not always the most professional ,both in regard to his students and our fellow staff members..Never an unkind word.. When I retired,Doug had made a very lovely wooden spoon for me..A few years later he asked how it was holding up and I said I had not used it since I wanted to have it always. His comment was "I can always make you a new one" I am so glad that it still remains in the special spot displayed in my kitchen.,still not used! Dawn and the Beaman family...all of your favourite memories and times will be with you forever. May God bless this beautiful family at this difficult time.

So very sad to hear of Doug’s passing. We have missed Doug and Dawn at July 1st parties the last couple of years; Doug for his devilish sense of humour and Dawn, of course, for that famous brown bread. I taught with Doug for twenty years at the junior high and never heard him raise his voice to a student - unless it was one bent on losing a finger to a chop saw - or vary from his gentle demeanour to earn their attention and respect. To say Doug was a family man would be a colossal understatement as I don’t think he ever enjoyed anything more than life with Dawn and “all those Beaman kids”, whom we teachers hoped to get in our classes each year. Doug was “a good guy”, which may not sound like much but is worth the world when kindness and gentleness are not always at hand. I will miss you, old friend..

Our condolences to Dawn and family.
I was shocked and saddened by the news that Doug had gone to be with our Lord and Savior. I never had the pleasure of meeting Doug in person, but know from our frequent phone conversations that he was a kind, gentle, and loving person whose concerns were not for himself, but for others. Esther Perry quickly filled me in on the Doug Beaman she knew, confirming my feeling that he had a servant's heart. Dawn, may God's peace, and the memories of a lifetime together, comfort you - and your family - in this time of great loss.

Dawn and Family, my sincere condolences on Doug's passing. I am so saddened, as is everyone, by this loss to so many who loved and admired Doug. We can all rest assured that Doug is now at peace, no more suffering. I have often looked back on that cruise you and Doug were taking to celebrate your special wedding anniversary and was so happy to have been a part of that celebration on board the ship and to know that there was a special surprise for you both - most of your children would be present!
I am so happy to have become acquainted with you and Doug many years ago and always enjoyed the chats and the laughter upon meeting you both wherever we were. Many thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad and difficult time.

Dear Dawn and Family,
We send our love and condolences on your loss of this fine man. Doug was such a joy and we were lucky to call him a friend. From the joyful days of playing in the woodshed at the Sugar Camp, sharing maple syrup on the snow and sharing the delicious breakfasts he brought smiles to many He loved you all dearly and his thoughts were always were always of and for you. Professionally he was top drawer. His unique ability to engage students and create positive learning in the shop was special. His sense of humour was part of it but students sensed that he really cared for them and took great joy in seeing their successes and their pride in taking home a project of their own making. He made a difference!
There are few people in this world who can bring warmth and happiness to a chance meeting. Doug was one who could always bring a smile and happy times. God bless you and your family, Doug! Rest in Peace!

From the time Doug was my home room teacher back in 1971, this wonderful individual had been a much loved and respected friend. I was delighted when one of my daughters had him for their shop class in Middle School and in later years Don & I have enjoyed several trips with both Doug and Dawn and loved spending time with them. Right up til a few weeks ago, Doug was still walking our Nature walkway with his love and living life to the fullest. We will certainly miss that wonderful smile and chuckle, but know that all the family will have many memories to cherish and Doug’s deep love for each of you will give you strength. Our deepest sympathy and condolences during this sad time of loss! Judy Stockdale-Dow & Don Dow

To the Beaman Family,
I extend my sympathy to you all on Mr. Beaman's passing.
I had a chance to chat with Mr. and Mrs. Beaman a couple of times last year while they enjoyed the Sussex Nature Walkway.
As we talked, it did not feel as if it had been 40+ years since we were student/teacher at the old school on Main St. As someone else mentioned, his classes were always interesting and kept students involved.
Hopefully you can take comfort from the kind words contained in other people's memories of your dad/husband.

Doug and I grew up in Parkindale. He was a few years older than me.My father,Wallace Gillcash, was the bus driver. This is my favourite memory of Doug (even though I was at his house and the sugar camp lots of times).I think it was 2 or 3 times a week,Doug and his girlfriend(cute little Dawn Price) would get on the bus together, find a seat near the back and squeeze into the seat,as close to each other as they could get. Then for the trip home they would talk and smile into each other's eyes and maybe steal a kiss or two.We would sit and stare and know they were truly in love(an exceptional love match) and as far as they were concerned they were the only 2 people on earth.Forever I will remember Doug and Dawn on the bus.
Years later Doug and I were both on staff at the old Sussex Composite High School. He taught shop and I taught a class of grade 7 kids who didn't necessarily blend in with other, more well-behaved students..but they were delightful.I enjoyed them but Doug's experience with some of the boys led to many an hilarious retelling in the staff room..and some he dared only to share with me.I loved his laugh!I loved the joy he seemed to get from life.
Dawn and children(young adults) cherish your good memories of him.I am so very sorry for your deep loss.
