I remember when Jean joined our staff at Sussex Elementary School in 1967 when all of the smaller rural schools in NB were closed. It was quite a "SHOCK" for her to move from here rural setting to one grade with 30 plus students in a school with over 300 students. Jean "nailed it"....and those who had the privilege of being in her class were blessed!
I count it a blessing to have been able to walk down memory lane with Jean over the last few years and loved teasing her that it was her love for my maple syrup that kept her alive so long....gallons of it!!!

Jean is so special to us! Over the years we shared many wonderful moments with her and created many special memories. Jean often said how much she appreciated us being there for her, especially my mom and dad (Ron and Fern), and I always told her she was appreciated by all of us just as much. Jean taught school for many years and after we heard of her passing one of my granddaughters said « Jean is one of the best teachers I ever had « . I agree as she taught us so many things never learned in a classroom. It was difficult seeing Jean having to leave her home and spend her last months in hospital as she always talked of wanting to be home when her life on earth ended. However she also shared that she had a rewarding life, shared stories of those she loved and who loved her, shared her love of nature and her love of helping others. Jean was attentive, compassionate, had a great sense of humour, and said we should never stop learning or loving. I am so grateful for the time I got to spend with her and for how she became a big part of my family. We will miss her and she will forever have a special place in our hearts.

To the family: Jean was my grade three teacher at Sussex Elementary School back in the days. She also was across from my in the hospital in April of this year, I was surprised to see her after all this time. Shared with her a picture of her students when I was in her class of 1974, if I remember right. She will be sadly missed and her family will be in my thoughts and prayers, rest in peace Mrs. Bone. (Jean).
