Obituary of Jean Bone
The death of Jean Marie Bone of Sussex, NB occurred at the Sussex Health Centre on August 15, 2024. Born in Wellesly, MA, USA December 30, 1925, Jean was the wife of the late Frederic W. Bone and the daughter of the late Allen and Lena (Hayes) McMillan.
Jean taught in many schools throughout New Brunswick, including schools in Moncton, Fredericton and Sussex. In fact, Jean met Fred while teaching in Fredericton. She and Fred went on to have a wonderful life together for many years. When Fred was dealing with illness, Jean stayed very strong and nursed him back to health. When Fred was given weeks to live, she brought him home and cared for him until his death, eight months later, in 2006.
Jean was a very kind and loving woman. She would go out of her way to help other people or if the Church needed something done. She was fiercely independent and never wanted to bother people to do something that she could do herself. Jean was blessed to have had those who came alongside to lend a helping hand. She truly appreciated these people. Jean will be lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
Jean is survived by her sister, Joan Johnston and her husband Charles of Norton, NB; her brother-in-law, Wallis Bone and his wife Daisy of Moncton, NB and several nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by brothers: Ronald, Douglas, Purdy and Wayne; sister, Leona Mason; brothers-in-law, James Mason, Ralph Bone and Rev. Lawrence Bone; sisters-in-law: Margaret McMillan and Elsie McMillan.
