It is with deep sadness that the family of Marvel Flora Tribe announce her passing at the Sussex Health Centre on Thursday, September 5, 2024. Born in Minto, NB on December 24, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Byron and Rosie (Petley) Crawford.
Marvel was well known for her love of music; love of her family and love of her Lord…….but she was especially known for her beautiful smile. She had fond memories of her life on “the mountain” and in her later years so enjoyed her home and her community of friends and neighbors in Sussex. Marvel was the last surviving member of the Snider Mountain Baptist church. Over the years she belonged to the WMS, Orange Lodge and the Sussex Senior Centre.
Marvel is survived by her children: Vernon Long (Linda) of Sussex, NB, Rose Fuller (Geoff) of Sussex, NB, James Long (Joanne) of California, and Jennifer Foss (Terry) of Fredericton; her sister: Mavis Morrison of Sydney, NS; her grandchildren: Shelly Doyle (Chris), Kris Fuller (Michelle), Jaime Long (Darlene), Lauren Clare (Mark), Ryan Long, and Megan Long; her great grandchildren: Travis Gray, Emma Gray (Dan), Kyle Long (Alyssa), Austin Long, Katelyn Urquhart, Chandler Doyle, Kamryn Fuller, Hunter Clare, Amelia Wallace, and Xander Clare; and her great great grandchildren: Carter and Lennon. Marvel is also survived by her sisters and brothers in law: Clara, Joan, Doris, Glenna, Ashley, and Donnie, good friend Margaret Long, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Besides her Parents, Marvel was predeceased by her husband, Hartley Long; her infant daughter, Dawn-Marie; her brother, Harvey Crawford; her foster brother, Murray Steen; her sisters, Della Keddy, Olive Hubley, and Goldie Crawford; her infant siblings, Clifton and Nora; and granddaughters, Pam Urquhart and Jenna Long.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Marvel’s most recent homemakers, Margaret Lewis and Theresa Holland for their compassionate care and friendship. Also many thanks to Dr. Bakezadeh and the staff of the Sussex Health Centre for their kindness during Marvel’s stay.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176). A Celebration of Marvel’s life will be held from the Wallace Community Chapel on Tuesday, September 10 at 11:00am followed by a time of light refreshments and an opportunity to greet the family. Interment will follow at Snider Mountain Baptist Cemetery.
Donations made to a charity of the donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Donations and personal condolences to the family may be made through www.wallacefuneralhome.com
