Obituary of Lloyd Douglas Secord

It is with deep sadness that the family of Lloyd Secord announce his passing at the Sussex Health Centre on Thursday, October 24, 2024. Lloyd was born on November 22, 1946. He was a son of the late George and Gladys (Wilson) Secord.

Lloyd began his education in Springfield and Milltown. He attended high school at Belleisle Regional High and Moncton High. He enjoyed math, chemistry, physics and history. He was a member of the army cadets, coin club, chess club, and many sports. His most special moment at school was graduation. Lloyd’s post secondary school was at UNB and U of T.

His jobs were picking strawberries and blueberries, NB Water Authority, Federal Forestry Dept., the National Research Center, and worked at various hospitals. He received many awards including class leader at MHS, Beaverbrook Scholarship, Lenard foundation scholarship, fellowships with SMAC, CCHSE, AEHE.

Reborn in Christ at daily vacation bible school in August 1957, Lloyd lived by the maxim "Study to show yourself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of God…", applying this with wisdom under the direction of the Holy Spirit.

He also applied this in his secular life, receiving a BSc in Math and Chemistry from UNB, DHA from the Faculty of Medicine U of T, CMA in accounting and fellowships from the Society of Management Accountants, and in Health Care Leadership in both Canada and USA.

He served in Health Care Leadership roles at Toronto East General and Orthopedic Hospital, The Moncton Hospital, Sussex Health Centre, Kiwanis Nursing Home and Atlantic Health Science Corporation. He represented the province through offices of the Society of Management Accountants, Canadian College of Health Service Executives, and American College of Health Care Executives.

He served his Saviour through applying his gifts and talents in many church leadership opportunities; teaching Sunday school, assisting with youth activities, playing trombone and singing. He served his community on many boards and committees in health care, sports and business (eg: Chamber of Commerce, Fundy Civic Centre, minor hockey, and Kiwanis).

He loved God's great outdoors as shown in his activities in the woods, his garden, and golf. He looks forward to enjoying God's perfect creation "Heaven" together with his many family members and friends who have gone on before. He encourages those he left behind to accept God's gift to enjoy heaven when their time on earth is over.

Lloyd will continue to live on in the hearts of Louise, his beloved wife of 57 years, his sons: Steven and his wife Tammy and Gordon and his wife Rosalind; his daughter, Mary Robertson and her husband David; his five grandchildren: Malcolm, Abby, and Ben Secord, and Liam and Laura Robertson; four brothers: John and his wife, Lynda, Andrew, William and his life mate, Bruce, and James and his wife, Cathy; two brothers-in-law: James Morrison and his wife, Mary, and Ronald Morrison; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lloyd Douglas Secord of Apohaqui went home to spend eternity with God the Father at the age of 77.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the compassionate care of Wallace Funeral Home, 34 Sunnyside Drive, Sussex, (506-433-1176) from where visitation will be held on Sunday, October 27 from 1-3 & 6-8pm. A service Celebrating Lloyd's Life will be held from Sussex Baptist Church on Monday, October 28 at 2:00pm. Interment will follow at Coles Island Cemetery.
